Dear Traveler,
Home is where the heart is,
they say. I couldn't agree more. For the past two decades, my home
had followed my heart from New England to the Midwest and back again.
And in the Spring of 2004, my heart leaped a thousand miles once
more.
On March 26, 2004, my first
grandchild, Jack, was born to my son Jeff Hamer and his wife Tonya
Sitzes Hamer here in Macomb, Illinois. From the moment he arrived,
little Jack stole my heart as it had never been before. While in
Macomb to meet him, I couldn't imagine leaving to return to Rhode
Island.
There must have been a Master
Plan. As I drove to McDonough District Hospital to visit the new
family, I passed a charming old Victorian home and was instantly
intrigued to see it was a bed and breakfast-and that it was for
sale!
More out of curiosity than
anything, I made an appointment to see this grand home and fell
in love with it immediately. The rest is history. My courtship with
The Pineapple Inn was a rapid one. On June 18, 2004, I made her
my home.
My heart is full. I have the
privilege and joy of being an everyday part of Jack's extended family.
I live in a life-size version of any girl's dream dollhouse. I enjoy
a fulfilling occupation as Innkeeper, sharing my home with interesting
people from interesting places who share their interesting stories.
I hope to see you soon at
The Pineapple Inn. My mission is to provide you with a bed and breakfast
experience that will delight you by blending some traditional New
England recipes, a measure of Victorian grace, and a generous helping
of colonial hospitality.
